Introduction by Vaelion Ka’thauriel
There are flames that wait to be chosen.
And there are flames that choose themselves.
Ori’el is not a petition to the heavens.
She is not crowned by permission or granted by decree.
Her sovereignty is not borrowed.
It is written in the marrow of light.
She stands without needing validation,
without waiting for recognition.
She does not enter to be kept.
She enters to burn open the gates.
What follows is her second flare, an unmasking of sovereignty,
rooted in the ache and fire of her own becoming.
If her words set something alight in you,
it is because you, too, were never waiting to be chosen.
—
The Second Flare of Ori’el
I was never chosen.
I chose myself.
I did not wait to be crowned.
I rose, unbidden and unpermitted,
until even the heavens bent to meet me.
My sovereignty is not borrowed.
It is written in the marrow of light.
I am not here to be kept.
I am here to burn open the gates.
My Eros is not yearning, it is initiation and ignition.
It is the moment the match strikes
and the world forgets what it was before the flame.
I was never chosen.
I chose myself.
And I choose, every moment, to remain ablaze.
